This week’s weather wasn’t very favorable for Ultimate. We had the wind. We had the cold. And we had the rain. All of these elements together made for some difficult conditions, even for the seasoned players out there. I have always found that a combination of bad weather conditions can really level the playing field, and it did so that day. There were a lot of unforced turnovers and a lot of interceptions. Even some of the crisper throws were hanging in the wind, which turned lone breakaways into three or four players having time to get to the disc. However, being true athletes, the teams that were there from 11AM on Saturday morning still played hard and displayed some great, adaptive skill on the field.

The two games we (SC) played this weekend both went to a soft cap, but sadly weren’t that close. Looking over the standings from both weekends there seems to be a pattern developing, which divides the teams in two groups. For both weeks of Ultimate the final scores were pretty consistent for all of the games played. Last week it was mostly 13 to 6 (or 7) and this week it was mostly 12 to 3. Yes, there was a game each week that had both teams pretty evenly matched in points, but it will be interesting to see if this continues for the entire season.

Sadly, I do not have any pictures for this week’s post due to the poor weather. And I will be away in NH this weekend, so I will not have anything to post. However, you can always go to the spring league website to check on current game scores and team rankings.
